Launch of i-Con Switchgear Condition Monitoring Systems

David Kerr - Tuesday, December 06, 2011

Following the individual success of the Siemens Switchgear Condition Monitoring Systems for High Voltage UHF Partial Discharge, SF6 Gas Density and Circuit Breaker Monitoring applications, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Siemens "i-Con" range.

As our switchgear monitoring systems now all employ common hardware and software platform, with the flexible option to fully integrate each system into a single Switchgear Monitoring solution, it was a natural progression to consolidate the brand.

The Siemens "i-Con" family comprises i-ConGDM for SF6 Gas Density Monitoring, i-ConPDM for Partial Discharge Monitoring and i-ConCBM for Circuit Breaker Monitoring.

For more information, or to download the brochure, please see the updated Condition Monitoring section of our website.

STDL Advanced Apprenticeships

Siemens Blog - Monday, February 14, 2011

STDL is an integral part of the Siemens Energy global network of companies, servicing an immense international power generation market.  Operating in partnership with customers in the electricity supply industry and industrial markets, STDL provide individual solutions to complex problems involving electrical power transmission and distribution.  Skilled resource is required to fuel the growing demand for our services and apprentices will be central to the business as it moves forward.

In 2007 Siemens Transmission and Distribution Ltd launched an Advanced Apprenticeship scheme.  Initially the 7 workshop based (craft) and 2 office based (technical) apprentices attended a full-time bespoke programme at TyneMet College, gaining a BTEC National Diploma in Engineering.  The apprentices then transferred to the Siemens Training Centre at Heaton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne to complete an NVQ2 qualification.  Returning to Services in Hebburn, the apprentices received training and practical experience in various departments, achieving NVQ3 qualifications.   Since, all 9 apprentices have progressed to further or higher education.

The Advanced Apprenticeship scheme has been a resounding success and in February 2011 STDL began a search for the next batch of apprentices to join the 4 year programme commencing in September 2011.

Siemens-Reyrolle LMT Retrofit - Official Launch and Seminar Invitation

Siemens Blog - Tuesday, June 01, 2010

The success of our new Siemens-Reyrolle Micro-website has clearly indicated the need for the 11kV LMT Sion retrofit solution to be formally launched as a product in it own right. It is very pleasing to see that customers value the “Contact us” element of the website and have raised a number of queries from technical specification to pricing for the 11kV LMT Sion retrofit solution.

The key to any successful product launch is customer participation and to that end I am pleased to announce that the 14th July 2010 will be the official launch date for this highly regarded solution.  Our intention is to hold a technical seminar to promote the benefits of the 11kV LMT retrofit solution, covering product development, type registration, Health & Safety, operation, maintenance, installation and commissioning.  This will of course include time for questions and answers from the audience.  If you would like specific questions to be answered ready for the workshop please use the “contact us” section of our website to pose your question.

The Siemens-Reyrolle 11kV LMT Sion retrofit solution will be presented to our customers in Newcastle-upon-Tyne at our Hebburn facility and will include the formal product launch and a visit to the factory to see the product in manufacturing.

Interested parties should “contact us” via the website or alternatively contact Dave Kerr – Business Development Manager on 0792-1246480 to confirm attendance.

Future developments for our website will include an expanded range of product & solution brochures and a customer on-line ordering tool to ease purchasing.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to meeting you on the 14th July in Hebburn.

Best Regards
